St Anthony of Padua on February 12, 2025
The Eucharistic Mass was presided over by Rev. Fr Andrew Dsouza, parish
priest of Bondel Church along with Rev. Fr J B Crasta the Director, Fr Avinash
Pais, Assistant Directors of St Anthony Charitable Institutions in Jeppu.
Fr Andrew’s sermon centred on the theme, “Patience: A Powerful Tool for
Pilgrims of Hope.” He urged the congregation to nurture the virtue of patience,
emphasising that a patient person can adapt and thrive in any situation or
environment. He highlighted how endurance leads to inner peace, while
tolerance strengthens our spirit in the face of challenges.
Drawing inspiration from the lives of the prophets, Mother Mary, and Jesus, Fr
Andrew reflected on how their unwavering patience amidst trials became a
testament to their faith and trust in God’s plan. He concluded by reminding the
faithful that patience not only fosters hope but also guides us on our journey
as pilgrims, steadfast in faith and resilient in hope.
Following the Mass, Fr Avinash Pais led the novena, with special prayers for the
donors and well-wishers of the St Anthony Ashram. The Children Choir from
Bondel Church added a melodious dimension to the expressions of gratitude.

maked the eighth day of the novena leading up to the annual relic feast of St
Anthony of Padua on February 13, 2024.

bear heavy crosses—many are helpless, burdened, hopeless, and destitute. By
sharing our time and resources with others, we can bring them joy and
happiness. He reminded that without following the Cross of Jesus, we cannot
truly become pilgrims of hope. Engaging in small yet meaningful acts of
kindness, he said, will surely lead us on this path.

residents of the ashram. The Choir members of Jeppu Church added a

MANGALURU, FEB 11: The St Anthony Shrine at Milagres Church in Mangaluru
marked the sixth day of the novena preceding the annual relic feast of St
Anthony of Padua on February 11, 2025.
The Eucharistic Mass was presided over by Rev. Fr Rupesh Madtha, Editor,

Abstinence: The Path to Becoming Pilgrims of Hope." He emphasized that to
truly fall in love with God, we must embrace penance, sacrifice, and
abstinence. By abstaining from sin, we draw closer to our loving God.
To cling to God and yearn for Jesus, these spiritual disciplines are
essential—they fortify us as pilgrims of hope. Be ‘less’ in the world to be
‘more’ with God. Jesus remained steadfast in His journey because He rejected
Satan, lived without sin, and remained deeply connected to His Father. He
urged the faithful to always keep their hearts longing for more of God.
